VISUAL ART VOICES OF THE 4 Bs

Migration arrives in images before it arrives in words. A photograph taken at a threshold. A frame of sky above an unfamiliar roof. A colour remembered more clearly than a name.

The Gallery of Human Migration invites visual artists to respond to the four movements of every human migration — Beckoning, Beginning, Becoming, Belonging — one image for each. The artists here have answered that invitation. What they’ve made is not illustration. It is evidence of inner lives in motion.

Your images have something to say.

The Gallery is always open to the next visual voice. If your work lives inside the experience of migration — as a mover, a stayer, or someone who has received others — we want to see it. This invitation is open to all visual practices and interpretations. What matters is reflection, care, and a personal response to migration.

Sabrina Aureli

Cycle 1: January – April 2026

Sabrina Aureli is a Rome-born digital artist whose images live at the edge of the real and the dreamed. Working in photography transformed through digital composition, she builds a visual world of suspended figures, open skies, and water — the quiet grammar of longing and threshold. Flight, dream, and a kind of luminous solitude move through everything she makes. Her four works for the Gallery open Cycle 1 of Visual Voices of the 4 Bs.

Since January, Sabrina Aureli’s work has moved through the four themes of the personal journey — the pull of the horizon in Andando a Dormire, the gravity of first steps in La vita altrove, the slow interior work of Oltre l’orizzonte, and the quiet arrival of Wildflowers. Belonging is not something any one person carries alone. It emerges in a field — shaped by those who moved, by those who stayed, and by those who hold the ground where both become possible. Four months. One artist. One arc.

Andrew Duff

Cycle 2: May – August 2026

Andrew Duff is a Toronto-based mixed media artist, graduate of NSCAD and OCAD, and the digital designer of the Gallery of Human Migration. His work uses humour, handwriting, and the ordinary weight of being human to find what connects his inner world to the viewer’s. His Cycle 2 series for the Gallery begins where beckoning always begins — inside a thought, before it has a name.
